18th September 2017 “From Hartlebury to Heaven”. The story of the Bishops of Worcester by Mary Arden-Davis from the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust.

20th November 2017 “Great Uncle Jack and his Gallipoli Campaign”. World War I story by military historian Ron Gallivan.

Members’ research evenings 2017 – everyone welcome, meeting on the other third Mondays, 19th June, 21st August and 16th October, subject to review. Do you have a local history project, or would you like to hear about and contribute to those started by others? Current project: Watercourses and mills in the Blakedown valleys.

Friends of Blakedown Signal Box – 17th June steam train with 46233 “Duchess of Sutherland” passes through Blakedown leaving Stourbridge at 8.50am. Come early and watch, then stop for a coffee! Historical Society Members free, Non-members suggested donation £2 to view (proceeds to Churchill and Blakedown Villages Trust).

Society Membership is just £10 a year, renews 1st April. Members meeting entry currently £2. Includes refreshments and prize draw. If you want to see what it’s like before joining, non-members are welcome at the speakers’ evenings for just £4 on the door. BOOKING THE SIGNAL BOX

The Signal Box in Mill Lane is now available for meetings and small private functions. Full disabled access including lift. Various seating plans are available and there will be one to suit your needs at just £10 per hour – proceeds to the Churchill and Blakedown Villages Trust.
